A mother of twin girls (17) and an Ohio State triple alumnus (BA, MA, MS), I am originally from Ohio and was an educator for 20+ years, as both a high school English teacher and, later, the secondary gifted coordinator for all college preparatory programs for 26 high schools in Columbus, Ohio. My husband’s business allowed us the opportunity to relocate here in 2013, but I decided not to take a 40K paycut to teach in N.C. Instead of teaching writing and journalism, I became the publisher of my own magazine to help other families find information and resources in our area. When I moved here I found finding things was difficult. With so many transplants here, few seemed to know where to go, what to do, and who to call for various services. I created Lakeside Living Magazine to help both new and established residents easily find information about our area, fun things to do, special places to go, and great service providers and introduce residents to residents so we feel more connected as a town. We want to connect our community of outsiders and help us all to be insiders.I opened Cornelius Lakeside Living Magazine in the fall of 2015 and published my first issue in January 2016. I grew my business from serving 22 neighborhoods to over 150 the past 8 years, opening a Mooresville Lakeside Living publication in 2019.
I love to travel, play tennis and pickleball, hike and walk, read, write, try new restaurants in Charlotte, and spend time with my family in our beautiful LKN area. I volunteer in many roles at Hough H.S. from Odyssey of the Mind coach to the athletic booster club and am an active member of numerous business associations and organizations in Lake Norman.
Lakeside Living Magazines are the community magazines of the lakeside areas of Cornelius and Mooresville, North Carolina. We mail for free to homes in our distribution areas and are funded by our community business sponsors who purchase standard or content-based sponsorships. We communicate, educate and celebrate all that is Lake Norman: communicating relevant, interesting, local information; educating residents on who to know, what to do, and where to go; and celebrating where we live, the people who live here, and our top local businesses. We are 100% owned and operated by residents in our town and 100% of our content is submitted by local residents. Each month we donate space to nonprofits to share their mission and to HOAs, area schools, and town officials. We are a community-oriented, family-friendly, positive publication that works to build up, bridge, and support both our residential and business communities. We bring neighbors together.
